CALIFORNIA LIONISM AWARDS
Awards (AKA Academy) are presented at the MD4 Convention.
Nominees* should be the District’s winners of the prior year at the sitting Governors discretion.
Categories are:
MD4 Lion of the Year
MD4 LEO of the Year
MD4 Kay & Denise Fukushima Couple of the Year
MD4 Club of the Year
MD4 Small Club Project of the Year
(Small Club 20 members and below)
MD4 Medium Club Project of the Year
(Medium Club 21 – 39 membership)
MD4 Large Club Project of the Year
(Large Club 40 and above in membership)
*Governors Only, if you do not have these awards in your District, you may submit a nomination for any of the categories from the time frame listed.
• All Lions in good standing within their Club, District, MD4 and LCI are eligible.
• A Sub-District may submit only one nominee per each category.
• The District Governor (or their designees) of said year should forward the nominations to the address below.
In the event a nominee is not submitted by the end of said year the following cabinet may send in the missing nominations by the deadline.

CRITERIA FOR THE CALIFORNIA LIONISM AWARDS 2021-2022
(To be awarded February 25, 2023
in San Jose)
District Governors (or their designees) will be responsible for forwarding all nominations to the MD4 Office.
MD4 Master of Ceremonies TBD
The deadline for nomination submission is November 31, 2022 Any exceptions must be approved by the current Council of Governors prior to November 15, 2022.
MD4 Lion of the Year
Districts wishing to participate should submit their District Lion of the Year for 2020-2021 or any other eligible Lion for service during the time period July 1, 2021 thru June 30, 2022. Consideration for this award can include service at District level and above. All Lions in good standing within their club, District and MD4 are eligible.
MD4 LEO of the Year
Districts wishing to participate should submit their District LEO of the Year for 2020-2021 or any other eligible LEO for service during the time period July 1, 2021 thru June 30, 2022. Consideration should be given to service and accomplishments outside of LEO as well as participation in LEO clubs activities and support of their District. All LEO in good standing within their club, District and MD4 are eligible.
MD4 “The Kay and Denise Fukushima” Couple of the Year Award
A couple selected by their District Governor will have shown exemplary leadership on behalf of the District and Multiple district, based on the theme, “One World, One Heart”. Service through the years should be considered, not just during the current year. A couple receiving this award may consist of a Lion and significant other who does not have to be a Lion.
MD4 Most Outstanding Project for the Year (Small Club, Medium Club and Large Club):
This award is designed for a Club who has a “Signature” project; for which the Club is most renowned. The amount of money spent can be considered and the project could be a fundraiser. Districts wishing to participate should nominate projects done during the time period July 1, 2021 thru June 30, 2022.
District Governors may nominate one club in each category.
- Small Club is a club with 20 or less members.
- Medium Club is a club with 21 to 39 members.
- Large Club is a club with 40 or more in membership
MD4 Lions Club of the Year
This award is designed for a Club who has gone above and beyond in their service to their community during the time period July 1, 2021 thru June 30, 2022. It should embodiment our motto “We Serve”. The amount of money spent should NOT be a consideration and the project should NOT be a Club fundraiser. The Club project(s) should be “Hands on” in nature and for which members turn out to do physical labor or service for the betterment of their community.
